Norma Katherine Salisbury (née Cousens)

Norma Katherine (Cousens) Salisbury, 84, passed away surrounded by family at the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital on Monday, December 15th. Norma is survived by her cherished husband Howard of 58 years.

Loving mother of sons Derek and Dale, son-in-law Dan Ward, and is the proud grandmother of Kelly, Ryan, and Nolan. She will be fondly remembered by her siblings; Roger (Donna) Cousens and David (Lynn) Cousens, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Norma is predeceased by her daughter Linda Ward (2017), and her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Bill Beairsto (2025).

Norma was born and raised in Waterloo, QC by Gordon and Bertha Cousens. After marrying Howard in 1967, they raised three children and moved to their farm in Waterville, QC in 1983 where the family began exhibiting horses at fairs in Quebec and Ontario under the name Linderdale Farm. In 2008, Howard and Norma built their current home at the Salisbury family farm in Foster, QC. Norma worked at the Townshippers’ Association for over 30 years and was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada as part of the choir.

Norma loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing and listening to music, and enjoying a glass of wine with her many friends.

The family would like to thank Christina Perkins and staff of the local CSSS La Pommeraie for their support. We are also grateful to the staff of Manoir Lac Brome and Katherine Cote for their care over the past year.

A celebration of life will be held at the St. Paul’s United Church, 4929 Foster Road in Waterloo on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, followed by a reception at the Waterloo Royal Canadian Legion Branch. The service will also be streamed online, and more information will be provided closer to the date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Creek United Church (278 Chemin de Brill, Bolton-Ouest QC J0E 2T0) or a charity of your choice.
