Gerald Swann

At Cowansville, on August 15th, 2024, at the age of 98, passed away Mr. Gerald Swann. Born in Paris in 1925, Gerald Swann was an artist of exceptional talent who had moved to Montreal from London in 1967. More recently he lived in Bolton West.

 

Gerald had initially trained at the Brussels Royal Academy of Fine Art and started his career as a portraitist in London and Paris before being drawn to advertising. He worked most of his life as a highly regarded art director in major advertising agencies around the world from London to Chicago to Montreal. In 1987 he was awarded an Obelisk for his work, the equivalent of an Oscar in advertising.

 

He was also a veteran of World War Two, having served with the French air force from 1944 to 1945.

 

Gerald is pre-deceased by his wife Marie (Sixsmith), his daughter Anne, his sister Beatrice and his brother Gordon. He is survived by his son Raphael, his sister Yvonne in London, as well as three granddaughters: Frida (Raphael), Camille and Sarah (Anne).  

 

Cremation was held in Granby at Les Jardins Funéraires Bessette Crematorium.

 

According to his wishes, there will be no funeral ceremony
