Discover our history ➔

1971

The history of Résidences et Jardins funéraires Bessette began when Georges A. Bessette, with 12 years of experience in the funeral profession, acquired the funeral homes in Waterloo and Valcourt. From then on, his daughter Lucie and his sons Claude, Robert, and Raymond, all three graduates in thanatology, joined the company.

1987

At that time, the population of Bromont was constantly increasing, and it could not benefit from the services of a funeral home. The opportunity to build a funeral home there was therefore seized.

1988

The company acquired Salon funéraire Drummond in eastern Granby and Salon funéraire Victor Rochon in Roxton Pond, bringing the number of branches to 5.

1992

To better serve its growing clientele, the family business embarked on a huge modern complex project with the construction of a crematorium and columbarium.

1998

Over the years, the complex has grown, notably with its superb central building and its cemetery, which undoubtedly gives it the title of the most beautiful funeral domain in Montérégie.

2002

The first professional of the 3rd generation joined the company. Indeed, Éric Bessette, freshly graduated in thanatology, joined the company founded by his grandfather.

2005

The company received the Haute-Yamaska Chamber of Commerce Silver Distinction Award for service business in the large enterprise category.

2016

Les Résidences et Jardins funéraires Bessette received the Distinction Award from the Corporation des thanatologues du Québec.

The funeral sector, like most business sectors in Quebec, must have recognition mechanisms to strengthen the bond of trust with Quebec families.

The Corporation des thanatologues du Québec is the only one in Quebec to offer quality certification in addition to professional service standards established with the Bureau de normalisation du Québec.

The Distinction certification is issued by the Corporation des thanatologues to funeral businesses that voluntarily initiate rigorous qualification processes. This certification requires a complete review of business practices in a funeral home and ensures clients benefit from the most professional service.

2016 - 2017

In 2016, Émilie and Patrick Bessette joined the team. Then, in 2017, Sophie Bessette also joined the family business, which would change hands. Indeed, Raymond, Émilie, Sophie, and Patrick became the new owners.

2020

To adapt to the confinement rules imposed during COVID-19, a new online ceremony broadcasting service was launched. Families can thus view the last farewell to their loved one from the comfort of their home, thereby eliminating time and distance limitations.

2020

At the end of 2020, we obtained BNQ 9700-699 standard from the Bureau de normalisation du Québec, making us the first certified funeral business in Montérégie. This confirms that Les Résidences et Jardins Funéraires Bessette is an exceptional company in its field of expertise. This standard was designed to ensure that bereaved individuals have access to quality services that comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Our Team

Our strength is people. Every member of our team is committed to offering professional, respectful, and deeply humane service.

From the first call to the final tribute, we are there, with discretion and presence.
