Viewing Service
Viewing offers a precious moment to say goodbye, surrounded by those who share your grief. It is an important step to begin the grieving process.
What does viewing involve?
To meet the specific requests of each individual following a death, we offer several options to provide a funeral service that reflects the deceased person. Our team will inform you about the possibilities and guide you in your choices. You can also consult this document which summarizes the options available to you.
Different types of burials are available on the Bessette Funeral Homes and Gardens site. You can choose, among other things, a plot for burial, a niche in one of our indoor or outdoor columbariums, or a crypt in our mausoleum.
Preparation of the body
Thanatopraxy (embalming) is required if the family wishes for a period of sympathy in the presence of the body, with the casket open or closed. This care is performed respectfully by a certified professional.
For an accurate presentation, we will request a recent photo, as well as clothing and jewelry if desired.
viewing
Viewing is a moment of intimacy and reflection essential for loved ones. It takes place in a serene and calming setting, fostering sharing and memories.
To accompany this moment, we offer a selection of caskets, as well as accessories, to provide a presentation that reflects your loved one.
Disposition of the body or cremation
After the viewing, according to the wishes expressed by the family or the deceased, the body will be taken for its final disposition: traditional burial or cremation. Whatever option is chosen, our team will accompany you with respect and discretion, ensuring that each step proceeds smoothly and in harmony with your values.
Why choose viewing?
Viewing allows loved ones to gather, pay a final tribute, and create a meaningful moment before the final disposition. It offers a space for sharing, support, and intimacy that can be essential in the grieving process.
This step helps to concretize the loss, honor the memory of the deceased, and initiate an emotional transition for those who remain.
Facilitating the grieving process
All professionals involved directly or indirectly in grief agree that saying a final farewell to a loved one, after embalming that brings serenity to the body by erasing suffering and illness, allows for the realization of the reality of death.
Our many years of experience also lead us to advise viewing, even if it is eventually followed by cremation. You can experience this step in the intimacy of the immediate family or in the presence of extended family and friends who will provide support and comfort.
Choosing the final resting place
Because every family has its traditions and every loved one deserves a resting place in their image, we offer different burial options, imbued with peace and serenity.
Whether you choose traditional burial or mausoleum interment, our spaces offer an environment conducive to contemplation and remembrance, in accordance with your values and wishes.
Traditional burial
Traditional casket burial in a cemetery remains a very common custom. Some families prefer to gather around a plot and maintain the traditional burial ceremony. We offer a peaceful cemetery on our vast property. You can choose a location from 4 different sites: The Garden of Doves, The Way of the Cross, Designated Area, Undesignated Area.
The casket burial will be done in the presence of the family and a member of our team who can offer a prayer or read a thought if you wish.
Final rest in the mausoleum
Less known, interment in a mausoleum, in a crypt, is a peaceful option and often appreciated when discovered.
Our mausoleum, bathed in natural light, offers a sober and serene place of contemplation, where families can gather in complete privacy.
Do not hesitate to ask our caring team for more information; they will be happy to guide you.
